Senior Manager, Process Engineering

Job Summary AESC is looking to add a Sr. Manager, Process Engineer to our team in Smyrna, TN. This is a full‑time, on‑site position. We are headquartered in Japan and operate manufacturing locations in Japan, UK, China and the U.S. About the Role Provides site leadership to the Process Engineering team, driving new and minor model program management, daily production support, efficiency improvement, scrap reduction, and equipment acquisition. The role focuses on continuous improvement, safety, quality, and achieving plant goals. Responsibilities Ensure safety is the top priority and promote a safe work environment. Manage major and minor model manufacturing plans, including trials, new equipment, and tooling launches. Develop and oversee budgets for new model programs and ensure adherence. Achieve plant goals and objectives relating to quality, cost, delivery, and safety. Maintain a positive employee relations environment. Monitor quality performance against cost budgets and implement cost‑reduction measures. Collaborate with operations to investigate and resolve in‑plant quality problems. Lead engineering managers responsible for process engineering teams. Implement root‑cause analysis and enforce corrective actions. Administer shop floor management systems to improve compliance and customer satisfaction. Facilitate safety performance monitoring and proactive safety improvements. Identify and implement process, system and tracking improvements to achieve departmental KPIs. Coordinate with engineering and design groups to implement battery or parts design changes. Support manufacturing to achieve efficiency, manpower utilisation, ergonomics and training standards. Oversee greenfield projects for plant set‑up, equipment installation, trials and launch of production. Adhere to IATF16949, VDA 6.3 and ISO14001 standards. Leadership Responsibilities Supervise engineering and professional subordinates, including contractors. Coach, train and develop staff, setting team and individual goals linked to corporate KPIs. Conduct performance reviews, recommend merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action. Monitor attendance and recommend terminations when appropriate. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution. Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA is highly preferred. At least ten years of comprehensive professional engineering experience. At least five years of manager‑level supervisory experience. Skills and Knowledge Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints, change notices, work instructions and GD&T. Proficiency in Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA). Manufacturing knowledge, preferably in automotive‑related technical environments. Advanced computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and maintenance‑software proficiency. Proficient in AutoCAD. Strong written and verbal communication, coordination and judgment skills. Strong problem‑solving and self‑starter abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
