Airy Job Category : Patient Care-Non RN Requisition Number : PHLEB012200 Posted: May 28, 2026 Part-Time Location Mount Airy Health 504 East Ridgeville Blvd Mount Airy, MD 21771, USA Overview The Phlebotomist Registrar is responsible for obtaining accurate, pertinent demographic and insurance information prior to services, reducing financial risk of third‑party denials and delayed collections at both on‑site and off‑site facilities. Responsibilities Collect proper specimens (blood, urine, or culture) according to physician’s order, ensuring specimen integrity and following SOPs for patient ID, labeling, and handling. Enter patient demographics and order test entries, resolving ambiguous orders by contacting medical/laboratory personnel. Verify insurance eligibility and authorizations, collect cost‑sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, self‑pay) at time of service, and refer patients to Financial Counselors when needed. Maintain a properly cashed daily cash drawer. Communicate effectively with customers, selecting appropriate tone and ensuring excellent customer service. If responsible for bleeding times, meet CLIA qualifications under 42CFR493.1423 and 42CFR493.1425 for moderate‑complexity testing personnel. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Thirteen‑week phlebotomy course or 3‑month military course preferred. Current BLS (CPR) certification. Certification from an approved phlebotomy program preferred. Valid driver’s license. Previous phlebotomy experience preferred. One year of customer service experience required. One year of experience in patient registration or accounts, or in a physician’s office practice or other health‑care facility preferred.
