Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Technologist performs routine, complex, or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological, and immunoassay procedures on body fluids. Responsibilities Process specimens, perform testing, and report results independently without supervision. Maintain required competencies in all assigned departments. Demonstrate accuracy for all testing performed. Observe patient safety, risk management, and infection control policies and procedures. Perform related quality control and required proficiency testing according to policy and procedure. Continue personal and professional growth to maintain competence. Identify and assist with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by managing time, reducing waste of supplies, and promoting cost‑effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care. Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of patients. Interact with patients and colleagues with compassion and respect for all individuals. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, business office, and medical records to ensure continuity of patient care. Fulfill attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping requirements. Demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative, and motivation to achieve unit, facility, and organization goals. Uphold professional and organizational standards, practicing ethically and with integrity. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science (MT/CLS) from an accredited institution. MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred.
