Where You Will Work Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex located in Grant County, New Mexico – just 10 miles south of the historic mining community of Silver City. The copper processing facilities currently consist of a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation with an annual maximum capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper. From unique shopping finds in the galleries to everyday groceries, schools and housing, there are numerous amenities for everyone.  Visit Silver City to learn more.  What You Will Do Under general supervision, provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership for Environmental projects and programs at assigned site. Determines and assesses environmental risk and develops regulatory documentation of results Performs hazardous waste site inspections and recommends appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations Reviews and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned expansion, modification or closure of facilities which affect environmental discharges, emissions, and hazardous materials Serves as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation) Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state, and federal regulations Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for environmental systems and issues Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, RCRA, Clean Air and Water Acts) Provides leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams Performs other duties as required What You Bring To Freeport Senior Environmental Scientist Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related Natural Science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management), or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or Business Management, or other bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of related experience, OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience Senior Environmental Engineer Bachelor's degree in Engineering (such as Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agriculture, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological, or similar Engineering discipline) and five (5) years of Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including Project Management experience, OR Master's degree in Engineering (such as Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological, or similar Engineering discipline) and three (3) years of Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including Project Management experience Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience Applies to all positions above: Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred (US examples include HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS, Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMM) What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $97,500-$138,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
