We are looking for an opto-electronic engineer with expertise in rapid prototyping to drive the strategic growth and assessment of our emerging technologies. While an expert at embedded electronics and software and computer aided design (Solid Works, CAD), you have a broad technical background that includes electronics, optics, opto-mechanical and electromechanical design, which enables you to know when to stress details and when to move fast to build the right prototype. You are self-driven and able to achieve results without significant supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

· Participate in opto-mechanical and electronic design from a technical concept to an advanced hardware prototype;

· Responsible for design, assembly, testing and installation of portable opto-electronic devices and transitioning prototypes to products.

· Generate technical documentation such as drawings and schematics from prototype to production documentation.

· Hands-on experience using portable light sources (LED, lasers), detectors (e.g. micro-spectrometers), programmable microcontrollers (e.g ARM processor, ESP 32) and touch screen displays.

· Design, develop, procure opto-mechanical components and systems for company's products and prototypes in company's R&D efforts

· Perform basic optical and electrical calculations and simulations in conjunction with opto-electronic and opto-mechanical design to verify the design meets the specification

· Experience in embedded C and Python programming

· Experience with Git version control and server management

· PCB design experience is a very big plus

· 3D printing experience is a very big plus.

· Fiber optics experience is a plus

· Communicating with vendors, machine shops, to solve any problem encountered during manufacturing of the mechanical parts

· Occasionally, travel to customer facilities in the USA for measurement and installation of products

· Maintaining related documentations such as BOMs, drawings and preferred vendors

· System level thinking and cross-disciplinary interactions

You Have :

· 2+ years of experience in product design and prototyping, with a focus in the areas of optical and mechanical design, embedded electronics, electro-mechanical systems, and rapid prototyping

· Experience with 3D CAD, modeling and design documentation (i.e. SolidWorks)

· Practical experience with electronic design xhyhwjd and assembly, Arduino, PCB design/layout and RTOS embedded systems

· Hands on with soldering and PCB assembly

· Ability to explain and present complex engineering concepts to a broader audience, including communication of ideas and solutions to a variety of audiences via presentations and reports

· MSc or BSc degree in Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or equivalent field of study

· Recent university MSc graduates looking for OPT are welcome to apply

Nice If You Have:

· Performing advanced optical, mechanical and electronic system calculations and simulations in conjunction with prototype design to verify the design meets the specification

· Experience with various manufacturing techniques, including machining, 3D printing

· Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
