Full-Time Faculty Position

Gavilan College seeks qualified applicants for one full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position teaching Biological Science beginning January 2027. The assigned teaching schedule will comprise a variety of biology lecture/lab courses and may include teaching days, evenings, and/or weekends in various modalities and campus locations. Faculty are expected to devote as much time as necessary to perform the professional responsibilities of the position. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is expected. The individual selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum, using culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and coordinating the overall Biology program.

Essential Duties

• Teach Medical-Surgical Nursing in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
• Evaluate student knowledge, skills, and clinical competency.
• Develop and revise curriculum in accordance with California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) standards.
• Participate in program assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.
• Provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
• Participate in department, college, and shared governance activities.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners to support student success.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

• Current, active California Registered Nurse license.
• Meet California Community Colleges minimum qualifications for Nursing.
• Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse within the last five years.
