What You’ll Do:

• Evaluate new and existing end customer video delivery platforms, to ensure they meet TELUS’ exacting standards of quality and performance!
• Collaborate with external vendor partners, bringing together industry expertise to solve technical challenges in the most efficient and expeditious manner possible.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues impacting set-top box performance and functionality, including OS and driver issues, encryption and rights management, video streaming and long-term stability.
• Design, develop and execute test plans to validate the functionality, stability and performance of customer facing and supporting systems on current and next generation set-top box hardware.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams and subject matter experts to build roadmaps, evaluate qualification and deployment plans, and to build consensus and drive solutions to technically challenging problems.

What You Bring:

• In-depth experience in deploying and supporting IPTV set-top boxes based on Android TV, Linux, or other embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with automation using scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, shell scripting or PowerShell.
• Solid knowledge of audio/video technology and standards used in consumer electronics, such as HDMI, HDCP, Infrared, BLE, codecs and transports including HLS, DASH, H.264, etc.
• Significant experience troubleshooting TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and network connectivity-related problems.
• Experience using software lifecycle tools such as Jira, TFS and Confluence
• Excellent in communicating complex problems to stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience using analytics and instrumentation to identify, interpret, troubleshoot, and resolve multi-layered functionality and performance issues.
• Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Computing Science, or equivalent experience in delivering best-in-class video entertainment experiences.

Great-To-Haves

• Experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud technologies and tools
• Experience with DRM systems including Wide vine, PlayReady and Veri matrix.
• Experience developing software using modern web technologies like HTML5, JavaScript (ES6), CSS3, WebSocket’s and REST
• Working knowledge of Android software development using Java or Kotlin
• Experience within home CPE networking/access layer 2 and 3 routing technologies (MoCA, Ethernet, Wi-Fi)
