An architectural icon in the Lower Garden District since its conception in the 1860s, the red brick Beaux Arts‑era style building was originally founded as The Saint Vincent’s Infant Asylum by Irish immigrant Margaret Haughery, a bakery owner and philanthropist celebrated for her humanitarian services in New Orleans. This position ensures that guests experience a welcoming and well‑kept environment throughout the property. Key Responsibilities Maintain all hotel landscaping, including lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and flower beds. Perform routine grounds maintenance such as mowing, edging, trimming, watering, pruning, fertilizing, and weed control. Keep walkways, patios, parking areas, and outdoor common spaces clean and free of debris. Monitor irrigation systems and perform basic repairs or report issues to maintenance teams. Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow/ice removal, and planting seasonal flowers. Inspect outdoor areas regularly for safety hazards and correct or report concerns. Maintain outdoor equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working condition. Support special event setup or outdoor décor when required. Follow all safety protocols and hotel standards while performing daily tasks. Qualifications Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or similar maintenance roles preferred. Basic knowledge of lawncare, horticulture, and grounds equipment operation. Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Good communication skills and a guest‑service mindset. Primarily outdoors, with frequent physical activity.
