Position We are seeking an experienced **Telecommunications Field Technician** in our Frisco Office. Requirements Intermediate – developing skills with some practical experience; able to perform tasks with or without assistance. 5+ years of professional field experience. Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings. Skills include use of industry‑standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively. Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions. Responsibilities General – perform routine assignments with limited supervision; expand technical knowledge and field capabilities; coordinate with project staff; safely operate equipment; travel locally and out of state, including overnights; operate a variety of vehicles including large vehicles with or without attached trailers; may cross‑train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE). Safety + Compliance – comply with all safety procedures: SDS, EAP, PSP, and JSA procedures; observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision; identify and evaluate potential hazards; properly select and use PPE; understand Traffic Control Plans; be familiar with federal, state, and local codes and regulations governing projects. Technical – independently locate and verify aerial, buried, and underground utilities using advanced non‑destructive locating methods; identify, classify, and document telecommunications cabling, fiber routes, pole‑mounted equipment, and underground structures; perform detailed pole line inspections; accurately measure and document duct banks, conduit systems, handholes, manholes, and riser pathways; safely access and work within telecommunications manholes and underground vaults; interpret and update as‑built drawings, utility maps, and construction prints; collect, validate, and submit field data using GPS, GIS, or mobile data‑collection tools; produce and review CAD/GIS documentation; troubleshoot data inconsistencies; coordinate with utility owners, contractors, and inspectors; provide on‑the‑job guidance to entry‑level technicians; maintain compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company safety standards; perform small cell site walks, photo documentation, and constructability checks; verify utility service for power and backhaul availability; document zoning and permitting related site photos, boundaries, and adjacency constraints; provide permit package field inputs; collect pole loading and prepare measurement details. Physical Abilities: hand‑eye coordination, steadiness, upper and lower body strength, control precision, stamina, multi‑limb coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, depth perception; extended periods of sitting and standing; navigating office and job sites; forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck; repetitive finger movements; reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, handling; lifting, carrying, and balancing equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds; walking long distances (3+ miles) and climbing uneven surfaces. Office Conditions: extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones; use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices. Outdoor Conditions: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather, high noise levels, allergens (poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, cedar), wildlife hazards; mobility around construction sites and traffic work zones. Safety and Equipment Use: regular use of PPE and pneumatic, hand, and power tools. Driving and Vehicle Use: may involve driving large pick‑up trucks with attached trailers, operating watercraft, and extended periods of driving. Expected Work Hours Full‑time position, generally 40 hours per week, but hours may fluctuate due to department needs including overtime. Standard operating hours Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM CST; employees receive a 1‑hour unpaid lunch break. Lunch hours may differ based on project workload for field staff.
