Payroll Manager

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED; 3 year minimum payroll experience Specific knowledge of Personnel laws are required including but not limited to FMLA, FLSA, etc. preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification. Five (5) years of progressively responsible payroll experience. Experience processing payroll in a governmental or public-school environment preferred. Experience with automated payroll and financial management systems. Valid New Mexico Driver's License. Skills/Aptitudes: Thorough knowledge of payroll administration principles. Knowledge of federal and New Mexico payroll laws. Knowledge of school finance and governmental accounting practices. Knowledge of NMERB and employee benefit administration. Ability to interpret salary schedules and employment contracts. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to train staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems. Position Summary The Payroll Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering all district payroll functions to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees in accordance with federal and state laws, New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) requirements, district policies, and applicable regulations. The Payroll Manager supervises payroll operations, maintains payroll records, oversees payroll compliance, collaborates with Human Resources and Finance, and provides excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll matters. #J-18808-Ljbffr Sylvania
