Part-Time Teacher

Position: Part-Time Teacher
Program: Exceptional Scholars Leadership Academy (EX1)

Reports To: Program Director/Administrator

Position Summary

EX1 is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered Part-Time Teacher who is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where every student can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Part-Time Teacher will support classroom instruction, student engagement, classroom management, and daily program operations. The ideal candidate is nurturing, professional, organized, and committed to maintaining a high standard of excellence for EX1 students and families.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, age-appropriate, and meaningful learning experiences.
• Support the lead teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Use positive classroom management strategies to prevent and address challenging behaviors.
• Provide individualized support based on student needs, strengths, and areas for growth.
• Assist students with academic assignments, projects, and enrichment activities.
• Monitor student engagement, participation, and progress.
• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and independence.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
• Follow all EX1 policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and expectations.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with administrators, teachers, students, and families.
• Assist with transitions, arrival, dismissal, meals, breaks, and other daily routines as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate supervision of students at all times.
• Attend required staff meetings, training, and professional development as scheduled.
• Support the overall mission, vision, and culture of EX1.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Patient, positive, and nurturing approach to working with students.
• Ability to follow directions and accept constructive feedback.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and other applicable employment requirements.

EX1 teachers are expected to:

• Arrive on time and prepared to work.
• Remain actively engaged with students during scheduled work hours.
• Limit personal cell phone use while supervising or working with students.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
• Demonstrate respect toward students, families, and colleagues.
• Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through on assigned tasks.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented school culture.
• Model the character, leadership, and excellence expected from EX1 students.

Physical Requirements

The position may require the ability to stand, walk, bend, sit on the floor, lift or carry classroom materials, and actively participate in classroom and student activities.
