Facilities Overview All facilities are level 3 medium‑security correctional institutions that emphasize educational, vocational, and rehabilitation programming to support successful reentry. Duties Provide preventive dental maintenance and acute dental care: oral examinations, diagnoses, operative and prosthetic dentistry, exodontia, periodontia, radiology, and prophylaxis. Consult with physicians to aid in medical diagnoses by investigating possible foci of dental and oral infections. Request laboratory tests and X‑rays; administer drugs; respond to dental emergencies; educate clients and staff about oral health and dental services offered by the facility. May participate in instruction of dental residents and dental assistant students. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Licensed as a dentist issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Knowledge of principles and practices of dental operative techniques and dental surgery. Skilled interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities. Ability to lift and restrain clients; exposure to communicable diseases and risk of injury from assaultive clients.
