Grocery Lead

Responsibilities Engage peers to deliver an exceptional shopping and checkout experience. Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks. Mentor and coach to exceed customer service and sales goals, while ensuring that the area is maintained to Meijer standards and all required trainings are completed. Support training of new and cross‑trained team members, providing peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards to improve productivity. Collaborate with leadership on department schedule writing to focus on team member engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability. Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies. Guide the team in compliance with food safety standards and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment aligned with 200% accountability. Lead team members in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display whenever applicable. Create an environment that supports the Meijer culture, valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Operate a register and handle cash when needed. Operate powered equipment, where applicable. Participate in period‑end inventories to help achieve departmental goals. May act in a Lead capacity in other departments throughout the store. Other duties may be assigned as required. Qualifications Passion for customer service with an engaging, approachable demeanor. Initiate interactions with customers and peers confidently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Retail or other customer service experience preferred. Creative thinking and ability to influence others. Quick rapport building to gain customer confidence and generate repeat business. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product. Experience in executing plans and fostering a strong team environment.
