Field Automation Specialist II

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. In addition to the responsibilities below, the Project Integrator III executes controls projects with an emphasis on delivering PLC and HMI/SCADA products utilizing industry standard platforms while collaborating with engineering to design robust industrial control systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. PLC logic design and programming. HMI design and programming. Electrical control circuit design and review. Field activities such as installation, commissioning, and site investigations. Perform systems integrations using serial and ethernet protocols. Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing as required. Preparation of proposals and review of plans and specifications. Meeting and presentations to customers, internal and external. Preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables. Report to work on time and ready to perform assigned tasks. Stay busy and look for opportunities to advance project completion. Complete assigned Controls Product training as part of the position’s career growth plan. Support a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance. Support a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and site safety as well as other aspects of the business. Complete weekly timecard accurately and timely by 9am every Friday morning. Requirements Equivalent experience, vocational school, or a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or similar field is preferred. Demonstrated experience performing systems integration duties with limited supervision. Demonstrated experience with common industrial automation communication protocols and implementation practices, including Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET and serial equivalents. 2-3+ years in PLC programming utilizing IEC-61131 languages. 2-3+ years in HMI/SCADA design and programming. 2-3+ years in electrical schematic design for control systems. Familiarity with MS Office Suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel and intermediate computer skills. Self-starter attitude that is inquisitive, intuitive, and has a willingness to learn and grow. Ability to document daily tasks, plan and prepare for tasks assigned. 3-4 years prior experience supporting construction and field employee groups, including strong problem solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation. This position will require occasional national and/or international travel and work in remote locations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach, push, pull bend and twist. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl through narrow, enclosed or elevated spaces; move up and down stairs. Regularly use and climb ladders. Visually inspect and locate equipment and products. Read information, often in small print including wiring diagrams and schematics. Enter and locate information on a computer system or communication device. Write documents, reports etc. using a writing instrument (e.g., pencil, pen) or computer. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to varying temperatures, work areas that may be slippery and or wet, near equipment and mechanical moving parts, electrical equipment and pressurized systems. Work indoors for extended periods of time. Work overnight, weekends, and rotating/varying shifts. This is an on-site position (job site or in an Albireo Office) and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work. Salary Range $90k-$130k DOE.
