Apply to chat with a recruiter about the details!Depending on your location, you may be eligible for relocation assistance!The 1E Med-Surg/Observation Unit at St. Anthony Hospital, one of our proud Magnet® designated hospitals, is a 22-bed department with a volume of more than 300 patients a month (usually 300 to 310). This unit is a new concept unit with a combination of both observation (14 beds) status and inpatient status (8 beds) patients. Our observation beds take a variety of patients requiring further time to be observed from the ED. If a patient needs further testing or monitoring and is not appropriate to stay in the ED, then our department will take them. Our top two diagnoses are chest pain and abdominal pain. We also accept patients that are sent from surrounding free standing EDs with the same criteria. When a patient requires care longer than 24-48 hours, we will transfer to an inpatient status and move to one of our inpatient beds or another inpatient unit in our hospital. The department's mission is to deliver safe quality care to every patient in a timely manner. Many join this team because they have an interest in emergency medicine. This department is a great place to solidify your med/surg skills, develop excellent time management and gain a better understanding of both emergency room patients and med/surg inpatients. You will have the opportunity to provide care to all types of patients and work alongside a mid-level provider (PA or NP) with every patient. We are a close-knit team with a solid positive team culture. We experience incredible opportunities to learn about many different disease processes with our patient population. This is a very fast-paced department as we admit and discharge patients on every shift.
