Senior Quality Analyst
At the direction of the Quality Manager, the Senior Quality Analyst works independently to support organizational quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, medical staff professional practice (peer) review, and performance improvement initiatives. This role collects, analyzes, and reports clinical and operational data; conducts medical record reviews; develops reports and dashboards; monitors quality measures; and provides actionable insights to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Working collaboratively with clinicians, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams, the Senior Quality Analyst advances patient outcomes, a culture of safety, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles through data-driven decision-making.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Analyze quality and performance data - Collect, validate, and interpret clinical, operational, patient safety, and quality data to identify risks, trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide data-driven performance insights - Translate data and benchmarking results into actionable insights that support organizational goals, evaluate the effectiveness of quality initiatives, and recommend solutions to improve outcomes. Assist in identifying system issues and opportunities for improvement while fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement consistent with High Reliability Organization principles.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations - Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards, provider quality profiles, and reports that present data in a meaningful format to support informed decision-making and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives - Participate in and support quality improvement, patient safety, and process improvement projects using established methodologies.
- Conduct medical record reviews and data validation - Perform medical record reviews and abstract clinical data to support quality measurement and reporting activities. Identify documentation discrepancies and collaborate with appropriate departments to improve data accuracy and quality outcomes.
- Support regulatory and accreditation compliance - Assist with monitoring compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, quality measures, patient safety standards, and organizational policies. Help prepare reports and documentation needed for surveys, audits, and external reporting programs.
- Collaborate with leaders and operational teams - Facilitate communication and collaboration with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to review performance measures and support quality improvement initiatives to achieve quality, safety, and performance goals.
- Maintain data integrity and quality systems - Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of information within quality databases and reporting systems, including the electronic health record, and comparative quality data platforms (i.e., Premier, THA, etc.). Follow established data governance practices to maintain reliable and meaningful reporting.
- Provide education and performance feedback - Provide education, feedback, and best-practice guidance related to quality measures, patient safety, documentation, and process improvement.
- Coordinate quality referral and event review activities - Support the review, tracking, and follow-up of quality referrals, patient safety events, and medical staff professional practice (peer) review activities.
Job requirements include:
- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare quality, utilization management, or healthcare analytics Required
- Bachelor's degree: Nursing, Health Information Management, Clinical Informatics, or other Allied Health related fields Preferred
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Preferred
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of healthcare quality measures, patient safety principles, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding, eCQMs, and healthcare quality reporting programs.
- Experience using EHR systems, Premier, Quantros, Access databases, or other healthcare data and quality management systems.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while supporting a culture of high reliability, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, data analysis, and reporting functions.
