Preschool Lead Teacher

General Summary The teacher serves as the educational leader at the preschool level to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds the Illinois Learning Standards Benchmarks for Education, following the approved curriculum. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church Works collaboratively with the pre‑k team in order to lead and nurture preschool students Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example Communicates effectively with parents, students and members of the community Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lesson plans designed to implement stated goals and objectives and by incorporating school curriculum objectives in lesson plans Completes student assessments and student portfolios directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self‑direction and positive self‑image; set high standards for student behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment Cooperate with school administration; work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents At all times demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations Maintain confidential information; display sound judgment in dress and general behavior Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications Excellent leadership and organizational skills The ability to motivate children Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative Knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management Enthusiasm in the area of early childhood learning The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check Education and Experience A Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, teaching, or related field is preferred.
