Mental Health Intake Specialist - RN

As a Mental Health Intake Specialist - RN, your voice influences patient care by fostering collaborative relationships with managers, hospital councils, and national nursing initiatives. Job Summary and Qualifications Provide a patient onboarding experience for patients admitted to the inpatient units and support them through discharge. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting all aspects of patient care. Work closely with all health care providers to facilitate efficient and high‑quality care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and applying policies, procedures, and standards of the unit, department, and institution. What you will do in this role Coordinate care with physicians. Collaborate with units, program staff, physicians, and other departments to enhance patient care. Provide patient education while administering medication. Practice safe medication administration, including scanning patients and medications. Scan all medications and patients using eMar. Follow facility guidelines for medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, and discharge. Assign and conduct appropriate individual and group interventions for behavioral and safety management. Maintain appropriate boundaries and apply least restrictive interventions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, evaluate treatment, patient safety, and programs. Assess patient response to treatment and safety interventions and document accurately. Assist patients and families to understand diagnoses, treatments, and symptom management through health teaching. Document interventions within the Recovery Plan and use teaching skills for psycho‑educational and medical instructions. Assume responsibility for renewing the nursing license. Complete mandatory education, health screening, CPR, and CPI requirements and provide verification. Transcribe orders accurately and scan orders to pharmacy promptly. Provide new patients with an in‑depth onboarding experience. Support unit staff with patient discharges. Qualifications you will need Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN) license. Associate degree in nursing. No travel required.
