Patient Service Representative

Patient Service RepresentativeWe are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. Joseph Medical Group office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits.Responsibilities**To move forward in this position you must have at least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting**Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visitsSchedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in othersSchedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.Processes referrals and schedules patients accordingly.Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issuesGreets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messagesCoordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processingMust be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude.Qualifications1. Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred.2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.3. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.4. Customer Service experience preferred.
