REHAB TECHNICIAN, CNA JOB SUMMARY

Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge. 

• The Rehab Technician (CNA) is a dual-role position that combines Rehab Aide and Patient Transporter responsibilities within a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility. This role supports the Rehabilitation Department by assisting therapists and safely transporting residents to and from therapy sessions.
• The Rehab Technician ensures safe, efficient resident transport, helps maintain therapy operations, and contributes to high-quality patient care. All responsibilities are performed in compliance with New York State regulations and facility policies.
• Assist Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Speech Therapists (SLP) with treatment setup and cleanup 
• Prepare therapy equipment, treatment areas, and supplies for daily rehab sessions 
• Support residents during non-skilled therapy activities under therapist supervision 
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the rehab gym and treatment areas 
• Observe and report resident status, concerns, or changes to therapy staff 
• Perform infection control procedures and sanitize rehab equipment 
• Safely transport residents via wheelchair or mobility devices within the facility 
• Escort residents to and from therapy appointments, nursing units, and designated areas 
• Ensure residents are properly positioned and secured during transport 
• Coordinate with nursing and rehab staff regarding therapy schedules and transport needs 
• Follow all safe patient handling guidelines, including use of gait belts and proper body mechanics

Requirements:

• Required: Active CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification – New York State 
• Previous experience as a Rehab Aide, Patient Transporter, or CNA preferred 
• Knowledge of patient transport, mobility assistance, and safety protocols 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a healthcare setting
• Energetic, enthusiastic, committed, & passionate about quality care
• Genuinely interested in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, & sometimes challenging residents
• Patience, a cheerful disposition, & willingness to assist any residents & co-workers
• Excellent communication, customer service, & organization skills
• Trusted to work independently & in a team environment
• Able to work well under pressure, flexible, & will work harmoniously with all staff
• Covid-19 vaccinations are encouraged but NOT MANDATED ; we continue to offer COVID-19 vaccination based on eligibility guidance from CDC
