Registered Nurse In Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Patient ratio experience: 2 patients Description: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required. Charge experience is preferred. Patient ratio during shifts is expected to be 2 patients per nurse. Experience with the charting system Epic is preferred. Must have certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC. Skills in managing and accessing ports, arterial line management, and assisting with chest tube procedures are essential. Ability to manage BiPAP/CPAP and administer blood products is necessary. Skills in caring for ventilated patients and managing central lines are required. Experience with chronic and acute renal failure, as well as neurologically critical patients, is needed. Familiarity with CRRT and ventilator management is a plus. Understanding of isolation precautions and infection prevention measures is important. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and monitoring dysrhythmias are required skills. Ability to start and maintain IVs is necessary. Experience in procedural sedation administration and monitoring is beneficial. Ability to respond to medical emergencies and manage patients with multi-system organ dysfunction is crucial. Support services available include physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy among others. Patient demographics include adults with diagnoses such as stroke, CHF, STEMI, COPD, CKD, DKA, and overdose. Special equipment used may include CRRT machines, IABP, and advanced ventilators.
