Position Title: Senior Buyer
Location: Fremont, CA
Department: Supply Chain / Purchasing
Position Summary
Nidec Genmark Automation is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support procurement activities for our semiconductor automation and robotics manufacturing operations. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, ensuring on-time delivery, and supporting production schedules while maintaining inventory targets and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic components.
- Issue and maintain purchase orders in the ERP/MRP system.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality metrics.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, and Quality teams to support manufacturing requirements.
- Expedite critical orders and resolve material shortages.
- Review MRP recommendations and place orders to support production demand.
- Analyze inventory levels and help reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
- Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Support new supplier qualification and sourcing initiatives.
- Track supplier cost reductions and identify savings opportunities.
- Assist with forecasting, demand planning, and inventory management.
- Maintain purchasing records and documentation in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Mentor junior buyers and support purchasing process improvements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Semiconductor, robotics, automation, or high-tech manufacturing experience.
- Experience sourcing electromechanical components.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
- CPSM, CPM, or APICS certification.
