Executive Director

The client is seeking an Executive Director to serve as chief executive officer and lead overall strategy, operations, and organizational growth. This role will guide a transition from a founder-driven vision to a mature, sustainable, and nationally recognized nonprofit cultural institution, working closely with the Board of Directors and key stakeholders. The Executive Director will oversee leadership of the organization’s major campus elements, including the museum and the Ellis Theater operations. The Executive Director will be responsible for strategic and organizational leadership, serving as a primary liaison to the Board while building a strong, trust-based partnership with the founder. The role includes overseeing financial management and revenue growth through budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, as well as leading fundraising efforts and external relations by cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, sponsors, foundations, and public funders. Additional responsibilities include executive oversight of museum development and the eventual operation of the Congress museum, ensuring mission-aligned programming and a high-quality visitor experience. The Executive Director will lead marketing, communications, and audience development to build local, regional, and national awareness, and will support community engagement. As the institution continues to evolve—expanding its cultural campus through ongoing developments and exhibitions—the Executive Director will help align programming, brand visibility, and stakeholder collaboration to support a successful transition into full operations.
