Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance EngineerThis is a 12 month position and is eligible for benefits. May require overtime. Pay is based on experience and ranges between $22.67 - $32.78.Purpose Ensure the high school building facilities and equipment are maintained by providing electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry maintenance as needed. Provide preventative maintenance and repairs. Supervise the Assistant Maintenance Engineer and assign responsibilities accordingly.Qualifications Minimum of five years of experience in the field of general repairs, including at least two years of experience in one of the following areas: carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair and maintenance, HVAC repair, mechanical repair and painting. An equivalent combination of experience and training would be considered. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated ability to supervise staff. Ability to work independently and with little or no supervision. Ability to do heavy lifting up to 100 pounds (a 50 pound lift test will be required). Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public. Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to provide guidance, instruction and training to staff. Knowledge and a good understanding of the IOSHA safety rules and standards is required. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Requires the ability to work flexible and overtime hours.Job Requirements:Medium to Heavy Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force regularly to move objects.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: climb stairs, ladders and ramps, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, push, pull, lift or grasp; communicate via speaking, listening and reading.The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker is subject to extreme cold: temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.The worker is subject to extreme heat: temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. The worker is subject to noise which may require shouting in order to be heard.The worker is subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.The worker is also subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases.Must be available for 24-hour response to an emergency that pertains to the facility. Must be willing to work overtime as needed.Vehicles: truck, tractor, snow plow; Floor Machines: buffer, stripper, carpet cleaner; Hand tools: saws, router, drill, hammer, other power tools; Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Tools, etc.The employer will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
