Job Title: Warehouseman Job Description

This Warehouse position is responsible for efficiently loading, unloading, and moving materials within a metal manufacturing plant. The role involves operating overhead cranes and forklifts, managing inventory, and ensuring production line equipment is continuously supplied with raw materials to minimize downtime. The Warehouseman also uses computer systems for inventory tagging, shipping, and receiving, and supports overall plant operations by performing additional tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials using overhead cranes and forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient handling at all times.

• Move materials throughout the plant to support production needs and maintain continuous operations.

• Receive incoming inventory and accurately tag materials to ensure proper tracking and organization.

• Maintain production line equipment by supplying raw materials in a timely manner to eliminate or reduce downtime.

• Perform computer-based functions to tag, ship, and receive materials, ensuring accurate data entry and record-keeping.

• Support shipping and receiving activities, including staging, organizing, and verifying materials.

• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in accordance with plant standards.

• Follow all safety protocols and procedures while working with steel and other potentially hazardous materials.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant and warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating forklifts in a production or warehouse environment.

• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes for loading and unloading materials.

• Background in material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving materials within a plant.

• Experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

• Basic computer skills to perform inventory tagging, shipping, and receiving functions.

• Ability to support production operations by maintaining a steady flow of raw materials to production lines.

• Capability to work safely around steel and other potentially dangerous materials.

• Ability to work in a physically demanding role that involves lifting, moving, and handling heavy materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a metal or general manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with inventory management processes and systems.

• Comfort working in varying temperature conditions typical of a metal manufacturing facility.

• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate tagging, tracking, and documentation of materials.

• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks to support overall plant operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a metal manufacturing facility where you will work closely with steel and other heavy materials. The environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, reflecting typical conditions in an industrial plant. You will work around overhead cranes, forklifts, and other production equipment, following strict safety protocols to manage the risks associated with large and potentially dangerous materials. The position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and handling materials throughout the shift, in a fast-paced and safety-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brandenburg, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
