Shop Lead Bike Shop Satellite Location

Position Location: 845 Shop, 1151 E Hermans Rd, Tucson, AZ (Hangar 845). Position Type: Onsite. Active, transferable U.S. government issued security clearance (Secret) required prior to start. U.S. citizenship required. Key Responsibilities Analyze and modify product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability. Work with underdeveloped drawing packages, basic sketches, released drawing packages, and CAD solid models. Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing machinist workload, supporting customer schedules, delegating, and coordinating workflow. Determine and direct technical matters to meet volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and specifications in a multi‑program, data‑controlled environment. Review incoming fabrication work, clarify and validate job requirements, create manufacturing travelers, and coordinate with other shop locations. Plan raw material usage, identify required tooling and fixtures, perform resource planning, and set shop priorities and schedule. Support quick‑turn machining to meet program needs in a dynamic, fast‑paced product development environment. Collaborate daily with support technicians, engineers, technical leads, and other shop sites to meet prototype development and test manufacturing needs. Qualifications Must have: University degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years relevant experience, OR advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience. Experience interpreting mechanical drawings and working in a machine shop environment. Experience with precision manual machine shop equipment and tools: lathes, mills, precision measuring equipment. Knowledge of programming, setup, and operation of 3 or 4 axis CNC mills (preferred). Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Familiarity with shop‑floor planning and tracking systems, including manufacturing travelers and job estimating. Working knowledge of Creo / Pro‑E, Windows, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Previous team‑leader or supervisory role in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
