This team is responsible for building the intelligent agent infrastructure Merchant Assistant (control panel) and the Brand Agent (storefront) that powers AI-driven experiences for merchants and their customers. You will collaborate closely with product managers, applied AI engineers, platform engineers, and infrastructure teams to design and deliver scalable, secure, and production-grade agent systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a passion for building reliable systems at the intersection of AI, automation, and ecommerce. You should be comfortable operating in a high-impact domain where correctness, performance, and thoughtful system design directly influence merchant growth and customer experience. The AI Agentic Platform Team builds and maintains the foundational services, orchestration layers, and runtime infrastructure that enable AI agents across the BigCommerce platform. Our focus is on scalability, safety, extensibility, and observability to ensure agents can autonomously assist merchants in managing, optimizing, and growing their stores—while also enhancing shopper interactions. Our work spans agent orchestration, tool integrations, context management, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and performance optimization of critical AI workflows.
