High School Diploma preferred. Reports To Principal, professional staff to whom assigned Job Goal To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas. Performance Responsibilities Assist the teacher with planned activities and instructional programs. Record and file statistical data, grades, and reports. Assist in preparing instructional materials for daily instruction as planned by the teacher; set up and operates audiovisual equipment; type educational materials; ability to use and operate copy machines, and computers. Assist the teacher in maintaining individual student records. Assist in supervising students in the classroom, lunchroom, and on the playground under the supervision of a district certified staff member. Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role‑playing, under the supervision of the teacher. Prepares, administers, and grades examinations. Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts. Confers with parents on progress of students. Perform other job duties as assigned. Competencies Perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios. Read a variety of manuals; write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others. Understand multi‑step written and oral instructions.
