Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in an ER setting.

Details

• 101-bed Emergency Care Center within a large, 815-bed hospital
• High-volume ED serving a diverse, multicultural community
• Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for behavioral health holds
• Supportive unit staffing includes techs in cardiac monitoring, internal processing, and triage, as well as unit clerks on days and nights
• Equipment used includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Documentation via Cerner
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Scheduling must meet department needs; block scheduling is not available
• Floating is limited to within the ED but flexibility to work all sections of the ED is required

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care using AIDET communication standards, maintaining respectful interactions, and keeping patient boards and communication updated throughout each visit
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
• The department is recognized for its strong teamwork culture and welcoming environment
• The hospital holds Magnet® Designation, Leapfrog 'A' Safety Grade, and has been named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades (2020–2023)
• The facility serves as the region's only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and home to Mission Children's Hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency room
• Navy scrubs are required
