Responsibilities: As an Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Splicer with travel availability, you are responsible for constructing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right, being the best, and are ready for the challenge. This position requires experience in high-count ribbon fiber splicing and testing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the installation and maintenance of our fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality connections and reliable performance. Additionally, you will:
- Perform high-count ribbon fiber splicing in both outdoor and indoor environments.
- Conduct optical testing and problem resolution using appropriate equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.).
- Collaborate with installation teams to plan and execute projects efficiently.
- Follow industry best practices for fiber handling, splicing, and testing.
- Ensure work complies with safety standards and regulations.
- Document splicing and testing results accurately for project records.
- Assist in the design and implementation of fiber optic network infrastructure.
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed.
- Travel to various job sites as required, often with short notice.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Work in outdoor utility construction sites.
Qualifications: About you: Safety is part of your daily routine. You have a proven track record of completing work with a high level of quality. You have a proven track record of completing work with a high level of quality. You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in fiber optics preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in outside plant fiber optic splicing, with a focus on high-count ribbon fiber. Proven experience with fiber splicing tools and testing equipment. Solid knowledge of fiber optic network design and installation. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Valid drivers license and ability to travel extensively. Availability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments. OSHA 10 certification and experience in railroad right-of-way are appreciated. Knowledge in fiber engineering, including network design, reading documentation, and understanding light levels and dB loss, is required. MOS codes V80B, B05A, 3D157, 6423, and 5699 are well-related to this position.
