Position Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work alongside licensed pharmacists to prepare prescriptions, assist customers, maintain inventory, process insurance claims, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and fill prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
• Receive and process prescription orders
• Enter prescription information accurately into the pharmacy system
• Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues
• Assist patients with prescription pick-up and general questions
• Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality
• Count, package, and label medications accurately
• Order, stock, and rotate pharmacy inventory
• Monitor medication expiration dates and remove outdated inventory
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment
• Answer phone calls and communicate with healthcare providers as needed
• Follow all HIPAA, state, and federal pharmacy regulations
• Support pharmacists with daily workflow and patient care initiatives

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred or required based on state regulations
• Current state Pharmacy Technician registration or license (if required)
• Previous retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Strong computer and data entry skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math and medication calculation skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
• Experience with pharmacy management software
• Knowledge of insurance adjudication and prior authorizations
• Bilingual skills are a plus
• Experience with medication inventory management
• Current California Pharmacy Technician License (issued by the CA Board of Pharmacy)
• Fluent in both Spanish and English (required – must be able to communicate clearly with patients and providers in both languages)
• Previous experience in retail pharmacy preferred (1+ year ideal)
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
