Job Description Summary Systems engineering is a cross‑functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users’ needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. The process proceeds from concept to production to operation. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision and prescribed work instructions. Executes within a well‑defined operations framework, following a step‑by‑step sequence of standard operational tasks to achieve an end result. Roles and Responsibilities Design and layout all auxiliary components and systems to the main product, including piping, valves, tubes, fluid delivery and removal (fuel, lube, hydraulics), pumps, actuators, tooling, etc. Develop conceptual knowledge of professional discipline and support roles with specialized expertise or broad technical knowledge. Apply general business knowledge acquired through education or past experience. Understand how team’s work contributes to the area and resolve issues using established procedures. Consult supervisor or senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions or parameters. Collaborate with others to solve issues. For customer‑facing roles, develop strong customer relationships, serve as the interface between the customer and GE, exchange technical information, ask questions and check for understanding. Work under direct operations supervision and prescribed work instructions; execute within a well‑defined operations framework following a step‑by‑step sequence of standard operational tasks. Be accountable for the quality of own work. Required Qualifications For roles outside the USA: basic experience in engineering, technology, and accessories; knowledge level comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience). For roles within the USA: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience in the Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)). Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
