Job Description SUMMARY: Under direction, performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds. Duties and Performance Expectations / Essential Functions Performs tasks to keep buildings clean (scrubs, dusts, wet mops, vacuums, strips, sweeps, waxes floors, empties trash, washes walls and windows, cleans chalkboards, etc.). Cleans restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenishes supplies. Supervises summer custodial workers, assigning tasks, providing direction and training. Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment. Assists principal in setting up and taking down special equipment for assemblies and programs. Operates necessary equipment such as vacuum, cleaner, buffer, scrubber. Assists in cafeteria during lunch by setting up and taking down equipment, cleaning floors, tables and chairs. Maintains current inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor of supply needs. Provides security for building during open house and secures all doors, windows and restricted areas during closed hours. Closes building by shutting off all lights and locking all doors and windows. Performs tasks on grounds including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, keeping trash emptied. Maintains hearing and cooling levels in building and reports problems. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Coordinates overtime scheduling with building principal and/or Operations Supervisor. Performs other duties as stated and as assigned by supervisors and building principal. Qualifications Training and/or experience evidencing knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques and basic supervision. Demonstrable ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor. Demonstrable ability to interpret labels and warnings. Must pass criminal background check. Completion of aptitude test. Conditions of Employment Effective date: TBD. Terms: One‑year probationary contract. Hours: 8 hours per day – 6:00 am to 2:00 pm / 260‑day contract. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. Salary and benefits: As approved in the current negotiated agreement. Starting salary: $18.61 + $2.00 differential per hour to start.
