ABOUT THE ROLE

The Metal Shop Team Lead oversees daily fabrication activities, ensuring production assemblies are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and PCI standards. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities to guide the team and maintain production quality. Success in this position requires strong welding expertise, equipment knowledge, and the ability to lead by example.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead and support team members in the fabrication of production assemblies.
• Operate shop equipment including forklifts, welders, shears, punches, drill presses, and band saws.
• Set up and construct custom jigs to support fabrication processes.
• Perform welding that meets company standards and PCI certification requirements.
• Interpret basic blueprints to ensure accurate production.
• Utilize gas/acetylene torches safely and effectively.
• Reinforce compliance with company safety policies and safe work practices.

The ideal candidate is a skilled metal fabrication professional with leadership experience and a strong commitment to quality and safety . They are hands-on, dependable, and capable of guiding a team while meeting production goals. This individual is adaptable, detail-oriented , and motivated to drive efficiency and continuous improvement within the shop.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to meet production deadlines.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and steel orders in English.
• Openness to change and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ability to obtain or maintain forklift certification (training provided).
• Willingness to learn and operate overhead crane systems (training provided).

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
• Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
• Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
• Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
• Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather , and outdoors
• Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
