Distribution Specialist

Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division Receiving and Warehousing Position Type Staff Employment Status Full Time Grant Funded No Salary Range 11.85 - 11.85 Pay Grade N01 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Job Summary DistributionSpecialists are needed to properly and efficiently handle materials shipping toand from the University. They areresponsible for receiving shipments, maintaining the warehouse, handlingsurplus property, and assisting in property disposal. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Receives shipments, verifyingthe number of packages received, noting the condition of packagesreceived, and collecting the proper documentation. Enters packages received anddelivered into the Track-padsystem, obtains signatures as required,and notes any damage or discrepancies. Performs duties such asunloading and loading trucks for delivery, sorting items for delivery todepartments, delivering items promptly, and obtaining signatures asrequired. Accepts and documents surplusitems received by organizing and storing surplus by categories, and maintainingsurplus records in the surplus property database. Processes requests for items tobe shipped out and maintains proper documentation. Operates vehicles such as vans,trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks. Maintains a neat and orderlywarehouse. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED with at least threemonths experience in a warehouse atmosphere. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal and social skills. Ability to operate a computer, and possess a basic knowledge ofMicrosoft Excel and Word. Able to lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis andwilling to work in all types of weather. Preferred Qualifications AssociatesDegree from an accredited college. CertifiedForklift operator.
