Business Analyst - Product and Pricing

• Client PetCare is a leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) company specializing in high-quality pet food products and services.

• We are currently seeking a Business Analyst to join our Data & Analytics Product Management team.

Position Overview:

• As a Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in delivering transformational data products that support product and pricing domains.
• You will collaborate closely with the Product Owner and key stakeholders across the commercial business teams to identify requirements for enhancing, testing and validating data products, serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
• Unlike traditional business analyst roles focused primarily on reporting and business insights, this position is closely aligned with the design, development, testing and support of data products.
• The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis skills with technical curiosity, systems thinking, experience in agile methodologies, knowledge of the CPG industry, and the ability to work effectively with data engineers, architects and business partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, examine and shape requirements definition across a broad base of stakeholders to ensure all needs are identified, conceptualized and documented.
• Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data definitions, data mappings and supporting documentation.
• Assist with refinement of a robust backlog of user stories through collaboration with the Product Owner, Architects, Data Engineers, Developers and Business Partners.
• Perform data validation, functional testing and user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet both business and technical requirements.
• Use SQL and other analytical tools to investigate data issues, verify requirements, validate solutions and support troubleshooting efforts.
• Identify risks, dependencies, assumptions and gaps in requirements before development begins, and support issue triage, root cause analysis and resolution tracking.
• Enhance end user satisfaction through continuous improvement of usability testing, ensuring delivery to the end user's highest needs.
• Advocate for data product standards, governance practices and reusable design patterns.
• Participate in all agile ceremonies for the assigned product team, as well as weekly department meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or Data Analyst, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods space.
• Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical specifications for development teams.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven skill at balancing technical knowledge with business possibility and acumen, including foundational knowledge of data management, data structures and advanced analytics requests.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality documentation.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn complex systems, processes and data flows, with a high degree of comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with SQL for data exploration, testing and validation, and an understanding of data modeling concepts and database fundamentals.
• Experience with Profisee, Azure DevOps, Databricks and SQL databases, or similar cloud data platforms and Agile work management tools.
• Experience supporting data engineering, data warehousing, master data or analytics initiatives at enterprise scale.
• Experience creating process maps, data mappings, business rules and technical specifications.
• Understanding of data governance, metadata and data quality concepts.
