Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCSW)
Columbia Mental Health
Columbia Mental Health is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCSW) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based outpatient psychotherapy and clinical assessment for adults experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and co-occurring challenges. You will manage a caseload of patients, conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver ongoing individual and group therapy using advanced therapeutic approaches tailored to each patient’s needs.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other behavioral health professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic care. You will participate in regular case consultations, contribute clinical input to treatment planning, and maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in our electronic health record system. The role emphasizes clinical excellence, effective risk assessment and safety planning, and adherence to ethical and legal standards of practice.
Columbia Mental Health offers a culture that is inclusive, supportive, and empathetic, with a strong focus on innovation and collaboration to improve patient outcomes. You will work in an environment that encourages reflective practice, open communication, and mutual respect among team members. The organization is committed to supporting your professional growth through regular supervision or consultation, in-house trainings, and opportunities to develop advanced competencies in specific therapeutic modalities and clinical populations.
In this position, you will engage with leading mental health professionals and contribute meaningfully to holistic patient care in Washington, DC. You will have the opportunity to refine and expand your skills in evidence-based psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and care coordination, while helping shape and improve clinical programs that respond to community needs. Candidates should be comfortable working with diverse populations and demonstrate strong cultural humility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a genuine commitment to person-centered care.
The ideal candidate holds an active LCSW license, has prior clinical experience in outpatient or community mental health settings, and is proficient in at least one evidence-based treatment approach such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-focused therapy. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, manage a structured yet flexible schedule, and uphold the highest standards of clinical and professional ethics. This is a full-time, salaried position with a hybrid work environment that may combine on-site and telehealth services, as appropriate for patient care.
Columbia Mental Health provides competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement options such as a 401k, along with paid time off and support for continuing education. If you are a dedicated Licensed Mental Health Therapist looking to practice at the top of your license in a supportive, growth-oriented setting, we invite you to apply and join our mission to deliver compassionate, individualized psychiatric care to the Washington, DC community.
