POSITION SUMMARY

Northedge Steel is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Building Support Specialist to oversee projects from the point of sale through pre-installation readiness.

The Building Support Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for customers during the project-preparation phase. This person ensures construction details, documentation, approvals, and other project requirements are accurate and complete before transitioning the project to the Scheduling team.

The role is responsible for reviewing project information, communicating with customers, coordinating with internal departments, and proactively identifying and resolving issues so each project is ready for installation. The Project Coordinator owns the customer and project-preparation process from the point of sale until the project is fully ready and formally handed off to the Scheduling team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review new sales orders and contracts for accuracy and completeness.

• Verify building specifications, site details, customer selections, and project requirements.

• Serve as the primary customer contact from the time of sale until the project is released to Scheduling.

• Contact customers to gather missing information, answer questions, and provide project updates.

• Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Permitting, Production, Scheduling, and other departments to ensure project requirements are completed.

• Review permit information, engineering requirements, drawings, and supporting documentation to confirm project readiness.

• Identify discrepancies, potential delays, or missing information and work with customers and internal teams to resolve them.

• Maintain complete and accurate project records.

• Update project details, notes, documents, and statuses in company systems.

• Confirm that all required documents, approvals, and construction details are completed before handing the project off to Scheduling.

• Monitor project timelines and follow up on outstanding items to keep projects moving forward.

• Clearly communicate project risks, concerns, or delays to the appropriate internal teams.

• Assist with improving project workflows and communication across departments.

• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive customer experience throughout the project-preparation process.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a cross-functional team.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

• High school diploma or GED required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of two years of project coordination, customer service, construction, or related experience.

• Construction, manufacturing, or pre-engineered metal-building experience.

• Experience using ERP, CRM, project-management, or similar business systems.

• Additional education or training in construction, business, project management, or a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is primarily an office-based position that may require:

• Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.

• Regular communication by telephone, email, video meeting, and company systems.

• Occasionally standing, walking, bending, reaching, or lifting office materials.

• Occasional entry into production or shop areas, if applicable, with required PPE.
