Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellbeing, connection and belonging, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.The S06 Material Handler supports Cornell Catering's high-volume operation by ordering, tracking, and restocking catering linens, paper goods, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages. This role helps ensure supplies, equipment, and resources are available and organized for daily catering functions and special events. Working closely with Catering leadership, the position assists with inventory control, receiving, event logistics, and operational processes to support efficient service delivery and maintain quality standards.Likely daily tasks include:Monitoring inventory levels and maintaining appropriate stock of assigned items to support daily catering operations and special events.Work with the Banquets Manager of operations to maintain various storage and supply areas, trucks, and catering equipment, to ensure materials are accessible and accounted for.Assisting with various event logistics by preparing, packing, and coordinating supplies and equipment for assigned catering functions.Supporting overall receiving activities, including inspecting deliveries as they arrive and conducting audits to help ensure incoming orders are accurate and complete.Monitoring packing, beverage preparation, and sanitation activities throughout the catering functions to help maintain high quality, safety, and operational standards.Success in this role requires strong organizational and time-management skills, keen attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. The ideal candidate can balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining established food safety, quality, and operational standards. The current rate of pay is listed in the collective bargaining agreement here: and starts at $26.64/hour.Required Qualifications:High school diploma, or equivalent such as BOCES, and four - five years of related experience.Knowledge of automated computer systems/programs related to inventory, ordering or material handling.Basic skills in reading, writing, English speaking and mathBasic knowledge of preventive vehicle maintenance such as fluid levels, inspection schedules, etc.Must possess a valid New York State driver's license with no major driving violations. Must be able to obtain DOT driving certification. Must be comfortable driving a large box truck and van and safely operate delivery under reasonably inclement weather conditions.Must be able to stand for long periods at time.Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.Preferred Qualifications:Group leader skills preferred.Additional education and experience preferred including higher education food service or related restaurant experience. Knowledge of storeroom and inventory techniques is highly preferred as well as proper sanitation and HACCP procedures helpful. Experience in Food Management System (FSS) highly preferred.No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
