Senior Litigation Attorney / Partner

A well-established Midwest insurance defense firm is seeking a senior Transportation Litigation Attorney to join its Chicago office.

This search is focused on experienced litigators with approximately 7–8+ years of experience who are capable of independently managing sophisticated transportation matters while also serving as a mentor to junior attorneys.

The Chicago office is the firm's largest, with more than 70 attorneys and a nationally recognized transportation practice

The firm moves efficiently and is typically able to take candidates from an initial conversation to a hiring decision within approximately two weeks.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex transportation litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft and argue dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Handle hearings, mediations and trial preparation
• Develop litigation strategy and advise clients on high-exposure matters
• Mentor and supervise junior associates
• Work directly with clients, insurance carriers and claims professionals

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Illinois Bar admission
• Approximately 7–8+ years of litigation experience
• Strong insurance defense background
• Transportation/trucking litigation experience strongly preferred
• Product liability and construction litigation experience are a plus
• Proven ability to independently manage complex files
• Experience mentoring junior attorneys
