General Production WorkerThis role focuses on coil production, where you will work on a fast-paced line catching small coil springs as they come off the machine, inspecting them for accuracy, and preparing them for shipment. You will handle precision measuring tools, maintain tight tolerances, and perform repetitive tasks that require consistency, focus, and strong attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesCatch coil springs coming off the machine approximately every seven seconds and ensure continuous, efficient workflow.Place each spring onto an approximately 18-inch rod in a consistent and accurate manner.Sort springs into three categories—within tolerance range, too large, or too small—based on established specifications.Pack completed rods and stack them neatly onto pallets for further processing or shipment.Lift and move materials weighing up to 40–50 pounds as part of daily production activities.Hold and maintain dimensional tolerances to within 0.001 inch to meet quality standards.Measure edge breaks and other critical dimensions on springs using micrometers and calipers.Use gauges and other quality tools to verify parts meet required specifications.Perform deburring and grinding tasks to remove sharp edges and ensure smooth, finished parts.Carry out repetitive production tasks with consistency, accuracy, and reliability throughout the shift.Follow all standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while working on production and machine operations.Complete an approximately four-month training period and then work independently with minimal supervision.Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of manufacturing experience in a production environment.Minimum 2 years of machine operating experience, preferably in a high-volume setting.Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, and gauges for precision measurement.Ability to maintain tight tolerances, including holding dimensions to 0.001 inch.Experience with deburring, grinding, and general finishing of metal or similar components.Capability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently over the course of a shift.Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.Ability to use quality tools and follow inspection procedures.General production and machine operation skills, including basic troubleshooting and safe equipment use.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in coil, spring, or small-part manufacturing environments.Comfort working with hand tools and shop equipment for grinding and deburring.Reliability in attendance and punctuality, especially in a shift-based environment.Willingness to learn new processes and follow structured training programs.Ability to work effectively both during supervised training and independently once trained.Why Work Here?You will join a stable production environment that invests in thorough, hands-on training so you can build confidence before working independently. You will initially train on a daytime schedule, Monday through Friday from approximately 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., for about three months. After training, you will move to a second-shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., providing a consistent four-day workweek. The environment involves standing for most of the shift, performing repetitive tasks at a production line, and working around machinery such as grinders and deburring equipment. You will regularly use precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, and handle materials weighing up to 40–50 pounds. The facility follows standard industrial safety practices, and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing setting is expected.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of South Bend, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
