PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Miravida Living is seeking PRN (as needed) Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). PRN employment means working on a shift‑by‑shift basis as needed, without a set schedule. PRN employees do not accrue vacation or sick leave and are not eligible for holiday pay. In exchange for this flexibility, an increased hourly rate—$35.00 per hour—is offered with no shift, day, or holiday adjustments. Open shifts are posted and filled on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Job Responsibilities Provides direct bedside care, including ambulation and range‑of‑motion exercises. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, documenting responses and reporting adverse events to the Nurse Leader, Physician, and family/guardian. Counts controlled substances with the incoming Staff Nurse at shift change and disposes of outdated medication appropriately. Communicates residents’ acute conditions verbally and records them in the 24‑hour report. Reports infections to Infection Control Coordinator / Nurse Leader and implements precautions. Assists the Physician during acute rounds, chart reviews, and medical record reviews, and transcribes orders. Completes the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and updates residents’ Care Plans. Responds to code situations, assessing critical needs and taking proper action. Acts as lead for the Certified Nursing Assistants on the unit, assigning duties and resolving issues. Monitors residents during meals and uses equipment such as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen supplies. Records food, fluid intake and output, and collects samples for testing. Assists with social activities and recreational programs for residents. Maintains a clean, safe environment and respects resident privacy. Participates in team decision‑making, maintains regular attendance, and works extra hours when required. Checks e‑mail daily and complies with policies and procedures. Qualifications Valid registration as an LPN in the State of Wisconsin. Completion of a state Board of Nursing‑approved program. Physical Expectations Working duties require the employee to stand, twist, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop regularly. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds to a 36‑inch height, 25 pounds to a 48‑inch height, push or pull items up to 250 pounds, and slide items up to 150 pounds. Supervisory Responsibility Supervises the Certified Nursing Assistants directly working with residents during the shift.
