LeaderStat is seeking an experienced Interim Manager of Surgical Services for a contract leadership opportunity in Panama City, Florida. We are looking for a strong, hands-on leader with a background in Operating Room (OR), Perioperative Services, or Surgical Services management who can step into a hospital environment and provide immediate clinical and operational leadership.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing surgical departments, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, improving operational efficiency, and building strong relationships with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership. This opportunity is well-suited for experienced Surgical Services Managers, OR Managers, Perioperative Managers, and Directors who are comfortable leading teams, managing daily operations, and driving departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational oversight of daily Surgical Services and Operating Room activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, employee performance, and resource allocation to maintain appropriate coverage and departmental productivity.
• Oversee surgical case flow, OR utilization, block scheduling, room turnover, and patient throughput to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to coordinate surgical services and address operational challenges.
• Monitor departmental quality metrics, patient safety initiatives, infection prevention practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Support departmental budgeting, labor management, supply utilization, cost containment, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities for nursing and surgical staff.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements that enhance surgical operations and patient outcomes.
• Promote staff engagement, accountability, teamwork, and a positive working environment.
• Ensure departmental compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and applicable accreditation requirements.
• Resolve staffing concerns, physician issues, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain continuity of leadership and support organizational goals throughout the interim assignment.

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license, with eligibility to practice in Florida.
• Previous management or director-level experience in Surgical Services, Perioperative Services, or Operating Room operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing surgical teams, staffing, scheduling, and departmental operations.
• Strong knowledge of OR workflow, surgical case management, patient safety, and perioperative nursing practices.
• Experience working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership.
• Ability to oversee productivity, quality improvement initiatives, departmental resources, and operational performance.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to transition quickly into a new environment and provide effective leadership with minimal onboarding time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous interim or contract healthcare leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
• Experience managing multiple perioperative departments, including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, or Endoscopy.
• Experience with surgical block utilization, staffing optimization, and departmental performance improvement.
• Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards and regulatory compliance.
