Processing Operator - Day Shift

Processing Operator – West Jordan, UT Danone is hiring a Processing Operator responsible for processing milk throughout the plant, operating a forklift, and working a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. Day shift is 6:00 AM–6:30 PM and night shift is 6:00 PM–6:30 AM, with the possibility of nights, weekends, and holidays. Key Responsibilities Operate powered industrial trucks to stack, store, move, pull, and prepare raw batching materials and/or chemicals, ensuring proper stock rotation. Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment following all prescribed safety and quality standards. Document cleaning and sanitizing activities in accordance with established procedures. Follow approved work instructions provided by Quality Technicians. Perform testing on raw milk, ingredients, and yogurt to ensure quality standards. Mix ingredients according to formulas and specifications. Maintain ingredient documentation on batch sheets and other QARs. Review and interpret CIP data, troubleshooting non-conformities as needed. Operate various types of pasteurizers safely and efficiently. Perform chemical titration testing. Maintain pasteurizer legal chart documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. Physical Demands Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, bending and stooping at waist level, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting at waist and neck levels. Tasting, smelling, seeing (including colors), speaking, and hearing within a normal range to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and results. Using fine motor skills to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls. Regularly lifting from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., and occasionally lifting more than 50 lbs. or performing team lifts. Occasionally climbing stairs, step ladders, or stools. Working up to 12‑hour shifts in production areas with a usually moderate noise level. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and standing/walking on concrete surfaces for the duration of the shift. Regular indoor work, office setting, or near moving mechanical parts; exposure to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions and occasional outdoor work. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises in the plant. Occasional work in high, precarious places; exposure to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Engagement in Integrated Work Systems Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, and Driving OE). Participate in and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system pillars—Leadership Foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; Planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management—to own your space, performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature), and continual improvement. Compensation & Benefits Base compensation: $25.97 /hr with an additional $1.25 /hr shift differential for night work. After a 90‑day probation period, base increases to $28.86 /hr with the same night shift differential. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent is required. 1+ years of experience in dairy manufacturing is preferred. 1+ years of forklift experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude, familiarity with basic machine functions. Read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Comprehend basic math and simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Operate powered industrial trucks and navigate tight spaces and high‑traffic areas. Willingness to accept frequent supervision and assistance with daily duties. Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data; ability to learn and use computer software to operate and monitor required processes. Prepare and present information in one‑to‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, vendors, and colleagues.
