Job DescriptionJob Summary:Leads enterprise pharmaceutical manufacturer partnerships and procurement strategies that optimize Walgreens' cost of goods, profitability, and competitive position across the pharmacy business. Develops and executes commercial strategies with biopharmaceutical manufacturers, negotiates complex agreements, and identifies innovative opportunities that drive enterprise value and improve patient access to therapies.Partners closely with senior leaders across Pharmacy, Finance, Legal and Operations to align manufacturer strategies with Walgreens' business objectives. Oversees key external relationships, evaluates market and industry trends, and delivers strategic recommendations that support pharmacy purchasing, contract performance, operational execution, and long-term growth.Job Responsibilities:Develops and fosters relationships with global pharmaceutical manufacturers with the focus on establishing/expanding alliances in both the retail and specialty distribution markets. Leads the process for gaining access to LDD (limited distribution drugs) for Specialty Pharmacy with assigned manufacturers.Develops specific acquisition and adherence strategies for retail prescription products in collaboration with internal support teams and manufacturer partners.Responsible for development and implementation of joint strategies focused on Rx DTC marketing, adherence services, data services, market insights and unique distribution/purchasing strategies that enhance sales for the Company and our pharma partners.Collaborates with manufacturer trade relations and brand teams to proactively identify business opportunities and implement tactics to establish enterprise-wide business relationships.Negotiates and contracts with pharmaceutical manufacturers for service programs in the retail and specialty arenas, ensuring that the appropriate partnerships with Purchasing and Supply Chain are recognized.Functions as the primary point of contact between the biopharma industry and internal stakeholders, such as Pharmacy Operations, Legal/Contracting, Marketing, Clinical, Specialty, Digital, and other enabling functions.Utilizes internal/external business intelligence to provide the early identification of new business opportunities.#LI-TO1#LI-HybridAbout WalgreensFounded in 1901, Walgreens () proudly serves nearly 9 million customers and patients each day across its approximately 8,500 stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Walgreens has approximately 220,000 team members, including nearly 90,000 healthcare service providers, and is committed to being the first choice for pharmacy, retail and health services, building trusted relationships that create healthier futures for customers, patients, team members and communities.External Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience in account management in the pharmaceutical industry or trade relations OR High School Diploma / GED and at least 9 years of experience in account management in the pharmaceutical industry or trade relations.At least 5 years’ experience with client negotiations including negotiating contracts, prices, resolving service issues and reconciling differences.Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.Experience in leading initiatives in one or more of these areas: pharmacy marketing, pharmacy sales, pharmacy benefit management, and/or managed care.Knowledge of the pharmaceutical manufacturer business segment and the cost variables involved within the segment.Experience collaborating with both internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.At least 3 years of experience in a national account director capacity.Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.Willing to travel up to 50% of the time for business purposes (domestically and/or internationally)Preferred QualificationsPharmD, MBA, Master's degree, or equivalent advanced education.Experience developing and managing strategic relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare industry partners.Experience working within pharmaceutical manufacturers, retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical distribution, managed care, healthcare consulting, or related healthcare organizations.Demonstrated ability to identify and execute strategies that improve profitability, create enterprise value, and support long-term business objectives.Experience influencing senior leaders and driving alignment across Finance, Legal, Operations, Pharmacy, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams.Strong understanding of pharmaceutical market dynamics, manufacturer business models, contracting strategies, and healthcare industry trends.Experience evaluating financial opportunities, developing business cases, and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.The Salary below is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities at Walgreens. The actual salary ($124,400 -$338,600) within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors.
