Location: Remote – Florida (Must reside south of Orlando)

Salary: $104,100–$156,100 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join a well-established, growing engineering consulting firm serving clients throughout Florida. This is a remote opportunity for candidates located south of Orlando, Florida, offering the flexibility to work from home while conducting field investigations and visiting project sites throughout the region. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in structural engineering, existing building assessments, forensic investigations, and repair design. This position offers a diverse range of residential, multifamily, and commercial projects, with opportunities to lead complex assignments, mentor junior engineers, and develop lasting client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct structural evaluations, forensic investigations, and condition assessments of existing residential, commercial, and multifamily buildings.
• Investigate structural damage resulting from fire, wind, flooding, impact, deterioration, and other causes.
• Develop practical repair, restoration, and rehabilitation solutions for damaged or underperforming structural systems.
• Prepare structural drawings, specifications, as-built documentation, and detailed technical reports.
• Perform structural analysis, load calculations, and material selection in accordance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
• Research historical and current building codes to determine applicable requirements and necessary upgrades.
• Complete structural design assignments involving renovations, adaptive reuse, building modifications, and restoration projects.
• Lead structural engineering projects, managing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, technical deliverables, and client expectations.
• Conduct technical reviews and maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards.
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and project oversight to junior engineers and other team members.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, property owners, and other project stakeholders.
• Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for complex engineering assignments.
• Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, technical expertise, and timely project delivery.
• Support business development efforts by providing technical insight and identifying opportunities for additional services.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or the ability to obtain Florida licensure through comity within one month of hire.
• Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of residential and commercial structural systems, building materials, and construction methods.
• Experience performing structural calculations, load analysis, and structural assessments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience preparing structural design documents, technical reports, scopes of work, budgets, and construction administration documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical findings clearly.
• Ability to lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must reside in Florida, south of Orlando, and be available for regional site visits and field investigations.

Preferred:

• Experience in forensic structural engineering, structural damage investigations, or existing building rehabilitation.
• Background in repair and restoration design for residential, multifamily, and commercial properties.
• Experience with storm-related damage assessments, including wind and flood damage.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
• Experience leading complex engineering projects and developing client relationships.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary: $104,100–$156,100, depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Environment & Travel:

• Remote position: Work from home with fieldwork and client visits as needed.
• Location requirement: Candidates must be based south of Orlando, Florida.
• Travel: Up to 25% local and regional travel, with occasional overnight trips.
• Fieldwork: Site assessments may require accessing rooftops, ladders, scaffolding, attics, crawl spaces, and active construction sites.
• Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday, with occasional additional hours required to meet project deadlines.
