Full-time General Practice Veterinary Technician — New England Veterinary Center & Cancer Center PetVet Care Centers' New England Veterinary Center & Cancer Center is currently seeking a General Practice Veterinary Technician to join their team. Position Overview The veterinarian technician will support hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, surgical assistance, nursing care, feeding, supply management, triage, discharge, and record maintenance. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, interviews, reviews of care plans and records, lab tests, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients: take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, vaccines, and bandage wounds. Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, restraining patients, and aiding the veterinarian. Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment and drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Maintain patient nutrition, clean rooms and cages, observe for clinical signs. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including documentation and controlled‑drug security. Maintain a safe, sanitary environment: sterilize instruments, disinfect areas, verify supply shelf life, and comply with regulations. Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes in the electronic database. Communicate with pet owners regarding patient status as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain equipment by troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ordering repairs. Manage inventory, place orders, verify receipts. Participate in educational opportunities and professional reading. Release pets to owners only when clean and groomed. Follow oral and written directions. Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or GED. Previous veterinary experience required. Proficiency in phlebotomy and background in general practice. Preferred Skills Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience.
