About the Role: Hippo's shared services organization is scaling, and we need an analyst who can own analytics for critical operational areas and tell a compelling story with data. In this role, you will partner with the Analytics Lead and operational teams to design dashboards, uncover insights, and drive decisions. You will take ownership of your analytics verticals from the ground up - defining what we measure, building the dashboards, and translating data into actionable business insights. You'll present findings directly to the stakeholders and operational leaders. This is not a supporting role; you own the narrative and drive business conversations with data. Reporting to Sr Manager, Data & Analytics, you'll have autonomy to shape how shared services uses data to optimize operations. Are HR processes working as designed? This data analyst will change that. You're someone who: Gets excited about uncovering insights in data and sharing them with othersDoesn't wait to be told what to do - you see the gap and fill itTakes pride in accuracy and clarityViews ambiguity as an opportunity, not an obstacleWants to grow your analytics skills and build expertise in a function that mattersWhat You'll Do:Own Your Analytics Verticals Take full ownership of assigned domainsDefine KPIs and metrics with stakeholders; design dashboards from requirements through deliveryBuild Tableau dashboards and SQL queries that answer specific business questionsPresent findings to stakeholders, and operational teams; translate data into recommendationsIdentify and pursue analytics opportunities proactively Maintain dashboards, validate data quality, and support stakeholder adoptionConduct stakeholder interviews to understand business needsDefine scope and approach for new analytics initiativesCommunicate back to stakeholders in clear, business-friendly language Collaboration & Learning Partner on complex analytics questionsContribute to team standards and best practicesShare learnings and insights across the analytics function Must Haves:6+ years of data analytics experienceBachelor’s degree in STEMSQL proficiency - can write efficient queries against databases/data warehousesTableau (or similar BI tool) - comfortable building dashboards from scratchSelf-starter mindset - takes initiative to identify opportunities, gathers requirements without being asked, doesn't need handholdingExcellent communication skillsStoryteller - can present data insights clearly to non-technical audiences, explains 'why' not just 'what,' connects findings to business recommendationsAnalytical problem-solving - comfortable scoping ambiguous problems and recommending approachesAttention to detail - data quality and accuracy matter; you catch inconsistencies Preferred Qualifications: Insurance, healthcare, or regulated industry experienceFamiliarity with HR or operations analyticsExposure to data governance or compliance reportingProven experience leveraging AI to automate job functionsExperience presenting to senior leadership Benefits and Perks:Hippo treats its team members with the same level of dedication and care as we do our customers, which is why we’re fortunate to provide all of our Hippos with: Healthy Hippos Benefits - Multiple medical plans to choose from and 100% employer covered dental & vision plans for our team members and their families.
