The Job
The Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations is recruiting for a Public Health Psychiatrist III* who functions as a, lead physician assuming medical responsibility for adult and/or child and adolescent patients under their direct care and supervision in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) across the county. Essential duties include conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of adult and/or child and adolescent patients, providing multi-axial diagnoses according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association; developing and implementing individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned adult and/or child and adolescent patients; providing competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric treatments to meet the needs of assigned adult and/or child and adolescent patients; leading lower-level professional and paraprofessional staff, such as clinical therapists, nurse practitioners, and case managers, including assigning and reviewing work, training staff, provide feedback or assist with writing work performance evaluations, participating in the hiring process and assisting with disciplinary actions, lead work responsibilities and decision making at assigned clinics may provide administrative oversight for lower-level professional and, works closely with the health center leadership, especially in discussing clinical and non-clinical issues pertinent to patient care. *Official Title: Behavioral Health Physician III

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements: Education: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine is required.
Residency: Completion of a residency in psychiatry approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education is required. A copy of the certificate of completion of residency MUST be submitted with the application.
License: Possession of a valid Physician and Surgeon's certificate issued by either the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California is required. Applicants MUST indicate number and expiration date on the Supplemental Questionnaire to be considered.
Certification: Possession of a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. A copy of certificates must be submitted with the application.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience working in a lead capacity as a licensed Psychiatrist within a public or private behavioral health or healthcare organization. Desired Qualifications
Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation. The ideal candidate will be certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. (Candidates who are certified should submit a copy of their certificate with the application). Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and have experience working under a collaborative care model within an FQHC. Experience leading a team of Psychiatrists who work with the seriously mentally ill, eating disorders, under-served populations, and with adults, children and adolescents, and the forensic population is highly desirable.
