Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Intensive Care Unit position requiring a KY or compact RN license and BLS certification, with neuro ICU experience preferred.

Details

• 19-bed neuro ICU serving CVA, neurosurgical, carotid surgery, and carotid stent patients
• Supports the hospital's comprehensive stroke program for patients requiring critical care placement
• Also cares for surgical post-op, cardiac interventions, sepsis, general surgery, and complex care ICU patients
• 3rd shift schedule, 3x12s from 7p-7a
• Weekends and holidays as needed
• 36 hours per week at 0.9 FTE

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted KY or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation required
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No experience strictly required, though previous nursing experience is preferred
• 2 years of ICU experience prior to traveling preferred
• Recent Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Well-rounded overall ICU experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• Work history demonstrating minimal breaks in service and longer contract assignments preferred

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document in accordance with scope of practice and hospital policy
• Develop and prioritize patient problem lists in coordination with the inter-professional care team
• Implement patient care therapies and procedures within scope of practice
• Educate patients and families on procedures, treatments, and discharge planning
• Delegate and oversee tasks performed by other care team members
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, falls, and documentation audits
• Coordinate with Case Management for timely and effective discharge planning
